Being that the NC Piedmont is located in the transition zone for turfgrasses, there are several choices to consider for your lawn. Traditional cool season grasses such as Tall Fescue offer the best year round color but often require more maintenance in the process. Warm season grasses such as Zoysia, Bermuda, and Centipede look their best during the hot summer months and are lower maintenance. However, they do go dormant during the winter.
